Hospital Pays $6.5 Million in Brain Injury Case

An Illinois hospital will pay $6.5 million to settle a medical malpractice lawsuit brought by the parents of a baby who sustained brain damage at birth. The plaintiffs had claimed that the doctors and staff of the hospital failed to timely respond to fetal distress caused by administering the drug Pitocin.
