Doctor Accused of Medical Malpractice Disappears

While not common, some of the often-sued doctors in this country have decided to quit practicing and retire with their money. In Dr. Normann's case, it appears he has decided to fall off the face of the planet - or practice medicine in Texas. In the wake of 2003 "tort reform" in Texas, it is likely doctors who are unable to maintain licenses/hospital privileges in other states will come to Texas to practice. Only time will tell if Texas has fallen victim to its own laws.

Doctor Accused of Medical Malpractice Disappears

An Arizona liposuction doctor whose license was recently revoked after three people died during or after procedures has apparently disappeared. Dr. Peter Normann is currently under investigation by police in relation to the deaths and is facing lawsuits by the families of two patients who died under his care. Normann has failed respond to several court filings or to appear for a deposition. Michael Clancy, Arizona Republic 10/29/2007
