$38.5 Million Awarded in Cerebral Palsy Case

A Connecticut jury has awarded $38.5 million in damages to the family of a boy who was born with cerebral palsy. Jurors found that Dr. Corrinne De Cholnoky was negligent for waiting to order a Caesarean section to untangle the boy's umbilical cord, which was impeding blood flow to his brain. The award is believed to be the largest medical malpractice verdict in state history. AP, Newsday 02/09/2008
