Imperial Sugar Refinery Had Previous Explosion

A Georgia sugar refinery that was the scene of a blast that killed nine people experienced a small explosion weeks earlier, according to a federal investigator. The previous explosion was caused by the accumulation of dust in a piece of safety equipment , Stephen Selk of the Chemical Safety Board said. It remains unclear whether the earlier explosion may have contributed to the second blast. AP, The New York Times 02/18/2008
