Patient Awarded $3.2 Million Against Doctor

A jury has ordered a Wisconsin doctor to pay $3.2 million in damages to a man whose leg had to be amputated after he suffered an injury while working in a factory. According to reports, Dr. Gregory Estlund examined Jim Lang at least five times before a specialist determined that Lang had muscle and nerve damage and reduced blood flow in the leg. Jurors found that Estlund's treatment of Lang amounted to negligent care. AP, Chicago Tribune 05/22/2008
