Soaps Claimed to Damage Reproductive Organs
A consumer organization has claimed that triclosan and triclocarban, two common ingredients in anti-bacterial soaps, can damage reproductive organs. The National Resources Defense Council claims that the chemicals can affect sperm quality and the production of sex and thyroid hormones. The group has filed a lawsuit against the government claiming that 75% of Americans over the age of six have residues of triclosan in their bodies. Reuters 7/30/10
