Johnson & Johnson Recall List Grows Longer in U.S. & Abroad
Johnson & Johnson has another product recall to add to its list. The company is recalling Simponi, an arthritis injection device, from the U.S. and European markets after reports of defective syringe doses.
Johnson & Johnson, a 125-year-old company, has recalled many products recently including children's Motrin, children's Tylenol, regular strength Tylenol, Benadryl, extra-strength Tylenol, and Mylanta. The company also recalled its DePuy ASR hip implant system in August of last year. Johnson & Johnson reported $900 million in lost sales for the year because of product recalls.
In 2010, the company closed one of its manufacturing plants in Fort Washington, Pa., because of hygiene problems. The plant, which produces the company's pediatric product line, still has not reopened. Johnson & Johnson's other plant in Puerto Rico, has also been reported to have unresolved quality-control issues, leading to recalls of Benadryl and Tylenol last June.
