Galveston couple accepts settlement in lawsuit against daycare
Parents put trust in daycares to be a safe haven for their children, but many children suffer injuries at daycares because of negligence. A recent Houston case involving alleged daycare negligence was the case of Jessica Tata, who is charged with murder, reckless injury and child abandonment charges after a fire at her home day care killed four children.
Case in Point
GALVESTON - A Galveston couple recently reached a settlement agreement in a lawsuit filed against their son's daycare for $55,000. The couple filed a personal injury lawsuit in 2009 against Kid City Childcare Learning and Sports Center LLC and Lindsay Sweatt claiming that they neglected to care for their 1-year-old son after he fractured his leg two months before. They also claimed that Sweatt pushed the child through a doorway and ignored the child after the alleged incident.
The documents filed in Galveston County in 2009, claim that Kid City and Sweatt allegedly failed to use adequate care in transporting their son, failed to maintain a safe day care area and failed to render aid and otherwise attend to the boy's injuries.
