Tractor trailer accident leads to lawsuit
Collision with flatbed trailer leads to wrongful death lawsuit
A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed in the death of a man killed in a June wreck in Missouri.
Stephen Hutinett was killed when his Ford F-150 pickup collided with a flatbed trailer being towed by a dump truck, Missouri authorities said.
Hutinett's wife has filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of her husband. The lawsuit alleges that the flatbed trailer broke away from the dump truck and crashed with Hutinetts' pickup.
The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. The truck driver and the trailer's owner are both named in the suit, claiming that safety chains were not used to attach the trailer to the dump truck and that the trailer's rear wheels did not have working air brakes or working lights.
The sheer size and speeds involved in trucking and trailer accidents make it nearly impossible to walk away from a truck crash without significant injuries.
