Woman suffers third-degree burns from mosquito repellent

Jacksonville woman files lawsuit after suffering third-degree burns from bug-repellent explosion

A woman in Jacksonville has filed a lawsuit against Napa Home and Garden Inc., for claims that she sustained burns after lighting a Napa FireLite pot, a product that uses a flammable gel to repel mosquitoes. The woman claims she lit the FireLite pot outside and it blew up as she turned to take a seat on her patio. Some of the flaming gel ignited her patio furniture and her clothes while it burned the skin on her left arm.

The woman is also asking for a recall of the product. The lawsuit accuses the Georgia-based company and subsidiaries for selling a product that can blow up like napalm even when precautions are taken. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has begun investigations on fire pot gel fuels after reports of similar accidents nationwide.

The woman said she still could not bend her left arm and has months of physical therapy ahead and more skin grafting to go. Many consumers suffer the consequences of irresponsible corporations that put products on the market before conducting proper testing. Defective products can include recalled pharmaceutical drugs, defective tires, defective car and auto parts, and medical implants.

Our firm has represented numerous clients who have suffered because of recalled products. Contact our board certified personal injury lawyers to have a products recall attorney review your case for free.
