Ambulance driver files lawsuit in vehicle crash
Ambulance driver files lawsuit against drunk driver and ambulance company in wrong-way crash
An ambulance driver filed a lawsuit against the ambulance company she worked for, and two women who she claims crashed into her ambulance last December near Santa Fe. The 19-year-old suffered numerous injuries because of the accident, including broken bones in both legs, fractures in her facial bones and a torn arm tendon. As a result, she had to use a wheelchair for months after the accident. The ambulance driver was working as a licensed EMT as part of her plan to get into medical school. The lawsuit claims that the company was negligent regarding the vehicle's airbags. The airbags did not deploy in the head-on collision.
The lawsuit claims that the two women were under the influence of alcohol and marijuana the night of the accident. One of the women was killed in the crash, and the other was injured. The ambulance company named in the suit is Rocky Mountain EMS.
The lawsuit seeks payment for all medical expenses, all legal fees and punitive damages for future injures and complications. The lawsuit also questions whether Rocky Mountain's medical insurance was sufficient coverage.
