Boston Scientific Recalls catheters after risk reports
Boston Scientific Corp. announced it is recalling ICross coronary imaging catheters after receiving reports that the tip of the devices detached inside patients.
The devices are used in imaging procedures for heart patients. The company is recalling almost 30,000 catheters distributed to hospitals in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Tobago and the American Virgin Islands, the Massachusetts-based company said in a statement.
If the device gets too brittle, the catheter tips may come off and detach inside patients. The company received reports of eight cases of the defective device breaking and leading to problems including hurt blood vessel walls and clotting.
Blood Thinner Recall: One lot of Coumadin blood thinner recalled
Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. is recalling one production lot of Coumadin, a medicine used to thin the blood. One tablet in the lot was found to be too strong a dose and can increase the risk of bleeding.
Five milligram Coumadin tablets with an expiration date of Sept. 30, 2012.
