Dump truck crashes into Metro train - 15 people injured in Downtown Houston collision Tuesday
Early Tuesday morning a dump truck collided with a MetroRail train at Main and Capitol, causing the train to derail and left the dump truck inches away from crashing into a nearby restaurant. Fifteen people were taken to Ben Taub and St. Joseph's hospitals for injuries, according to officials. Three ambulances were called out to the accident.
In a statement, Metro officials claimed the dump truck driver ran a red light. The scene is still being investigated. Rail service in the area is expected to be disrupted for several hours for the investigation and cleanup.
