Kevin Chavez

Houston injury lawyer Mr. Chávez was born in Cleveland, Ohio and has lived in Houston, Texas since 1994. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Mr. Chávez attended Myers University in Cleveland, Ohio where he graduated cum laude. He subsequently attended Cleveland-Marshall College of Law on partial scholarships from the Ohio Board of Regents and Cleveland Scholarship Programs. Mr. Chávez was the recipient of the Banks-Baldwin Clinical Program Award and graduated in the top one-third of his law school class.

Since graduation, Mr. Chávez has worked for Progressive Insurance Company as well as the law firms of Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff, Jim S. Adler & Associates and Waverly Nolley & Associates. He has also participated in Spanish language media including Radio Amistad KHCB, Channel 45 Univisión-KXLN and Channel 21 Visión Celestial-KVQT.   Mr. Chavez has also appeared as a guest speaker for the Consulate of Guatemala.

Texas representative cases:


Fair Labor Standards Act case. Mr. Chavez's client was a cook at a restaurant who worked over 65 hours per week and was paid a cash salary that was just below minimum wage. She resigned after she was assaulted by one of her supervisors. The case settled for a confidential amount, including overtime back pay wages.

Fair Labor Standards Act case. Mr. Chavez's client was a butcher/cook at a meat market who worked over 72 hours per week and was paid in cash. Because Mr. Chavez had previously sued this meat market before and prevailed in another case, he simply sent a letter to their attorney and within two months, he recovered the client's back overtime wages.

Fair Labor Standards Act case. Mr. Chavez's client was a food preparer at a restaurant who worked over 70 hours per week. The client was paid in cash and worked under a different name. He filed an overtime lawsuit and within six months, the case was settled and Mr. Chavez recovered the client's overtime back wages.

Job Injury / Fair Labor Standards Act case. Mr. Chavez's client was an excavator for a large subcontracting company when he suffered a fractured hip as a result of an on-the-job accident. Mr. Chavez discovered that the client also was not being paid his overtime wages correctly. Mr. Chavez filed a lawsuit for the client's injuries and for overtime wages and the case was settled within four months.
