Cadillac SRX Recall: Almost 50,000 Cadillacs recalled

2011 Product Recalls: Update

Cadillac SRX recall: Side air bags may not deploy - almost 50,000 vehicles affected by recall

General Motors is recalling over 47,000 2011 Cadillac SRX crossover vehicles in the U.S. because of a problem with the passenger side air bags. The Cadillac SRX sensors automatically turn off the side air bags if no front seat passenger is detected. This causes the passenger-side side air bags to not deploy during a collision and, as a result, a right-side passenger in the backseat may not be protected and could get hurt in a front or side crash.

GM will begin to notify affected Cadillac SRX owners next week, instructing them to bring their vehicles in to dealerships. GM said no injuries have been reported.
