At Kennedy Hodges, we believe in using personnel and technology to deliver outstanding results to our clients.  The firm relies on the latest technology as a “force multiplier” when taking on defendants and their insurers.  The office is completely paperless, which means expenses are kept to a minimum.  We also rely on legal assistants who further work to keep expenses to a minimum.

While lawyers assume ultimate responsibility for legal work, they often delegate many of their tasks to legal assistants. In fact, legal assistants (also called paralegals) are continuing to assume a growing range of tasks in law offices around the country and perform many of the same tasks as attorneys.  Nevertheless, they are still explicitly prohibited from carrying out duties that are considered to be the practice of law, such as setting legal fees, giving legal advice, and presenting cases in court.

At Kennedy Hodges, legal assistants order medical records, help lawyers prepare for trials, investigate the facts of cases and ensure that all relevant information is considered by the attorney. They also help prepare documents, answer client questions and assist in moving cases towards resolution.

Familiarity with computers and technical knowledge have become essential to legal assistant work at Kennedy Hodges. Computer software packages and the Internet are used to manage cases and search legal literature stored in computer databases and on CD-ROM.  All documents that come into the firm are scanned and thereafter easily retrievable.  When the case is finished, if you desire a copy of your file, it can usually be downloaded onto a CD-ROM rather than copied and boxed up.

Virtually all of the staff at Kennedy Hodges is bilingual in English and Spanish.  Some received their education at a four-year college while others received a paralegal certification at a school specializing in training legal assistants.
