12 Teens Injured in Rollover Crash in Houston

A group of missionaries from Newark sustained injuries in a rollover crash near Houston. At least 12 people were injured when their van was hit when another vehicle allegedly ran a red light and T-boned the van. The van flipped twice. Several teens had to be hospitalized, while others were treated and released.

Although the accident was severe and at least 12 individuals were injured, fortunately no one was killed. Side impact crashes can be one of the most severe types of automobile accidents. When a vehicle is impacted on the side, the damage to both the vehicle and the vehicle’s occupants can be serious. In front or rear impact crashes, there is little protection from the vehicle for the driver or the passengers. Even in vehicles with side-impact air bags, occupants are not completely protected.

Many side impact accidents occur at intersections as the result of a driver failing to yield. Although many of these accidents occur at low speeds, in some cases drivers increase their speed to get through the intersection, which can increase the severity of the accident. The most vulnerable passengers in a side impact crash are those seated on the side of the vehicle which has been struck. However, even those occupants on the far side of the vehicle can suffer very serious injuries or even death.
