Two people were killed in an accident involving a tractor trailer and another vehicle. According to witnesses, the truck driver was travelling at about 50 miles an hour and ran a red light near the Beltway 8 feeder road and Antoine Drive. The tractor trailer collided with a sedan.

The truck driver was thrown from the big rig’s cab, and was then crushed by the loaded crate he was transporting. The driver died at the scene. A man, woman and their five-month old baby were riding in the sedan. The woman died at the scene. The man and the baby were taken to the hospital.

This accident illustrates the dangers that tractor trailer pose to other vehicles on the road. Their drivers are often tired and overworked, and may be under the influence of illegal substances. The sheer size and speeds at which those vehicles travel mean that if a tractor trailer collides with a passenger vehicle, the results are likely to be catastrophic.
