Houston Hit and Run Driver Flees Deadly Scene Before Returning

Late last week, a driver in Houston was arrested after causing a fatal multi-vehicle accident in northeast Houston. The accident happened on a weeknight near 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of Mesa Road and Sterlingshire Street.

According to police, the driver of a Toyota Corolla was driving near Mesa Road when he failed to yield while he was making a left turn. The Corolla crashed into a pickup truck, which spun around and struck a Honda CR-V behind it. The driver of the Toyota fled the scene and did not call 911. A passenger in his car died at the scene. The driver returned to the scene 90 minutes later and was interviewed by police. He was arrested and will face charges for failing to stop and render aid.

Unfortunately, hit and run accidents are not uncommon throughout the U.S. Hit and run accidents are some of the worst types of accidents – not only are the victims typically severely injured and left without help, the victims are also left without anyone who can take responsibility for their actions. However, many hit and run car accidents are compensable when a claim is filed with the accident victim’s automobile insurance company.

Often, when hit and run accidents occur in Houston, the accident victim needs an attorney to help receive financial compensation. The compensation can either be recovered from a hit and run driver (if found), or from their own insurance company in the form of an uninsured motorist claim. The accident victim is entitled to compensation for lost wages, pain and suffering, medical expenses, and more.
