Houston Teen Accused of Accidentally Shooting his Friend

A Houston teenager is accused of accidentally shooting his friend, who later died. The shooting happened earlier this month. The accident victim was driving a vehicle with the several friends inside when they stopped for gas. One of the teens was handling a gun and accidentally shot it.

The driver suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach, got out of the vehicle, and collapsed a few feet away. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. According to the family members of the shooting victim, the shooting was just a terrible accident and the two boys were best friends. The father of the shooter says that the teens were just driving around and chasing girls and the last thing he expected was for a loaded vehicle to be in the car. The teenager has been charged with manslaughter and his case will go before a judge next month.

If you have small children or teens in your home, it’s important that you secure any firearms you own. If an accident occurs, not only could your child or a friend face death or serious personal injuries, but you could face a civil lawsuit for negligence. If you leave a gun in your home unsecured, and it’s used in a shooting, you may face liability, and the shooter may face criminal charges.
