NuvaRing Claims

NuvaRing is a type of female contraceptive that was released in 2002. Nuva Ring is a flexible plastic ring inserted into the body that releases female hormones into the body. It works the same as many oral contraceptives work. The product contained an FDA warning that let users know that cigarette smoking increased the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects when combined. It warned women who used NuvaRing not to smoke.

NuvaRing, unlike oral contraceptives, delivered hormones directly to the blood stream, which could have resulted in higher dosages of hormones than oral contraceptives. As a result, there have been some serious side effects resulting from the use of NuvaRings, especially among women who smoke. Some of those side effects include blood clots, strokes, heart attacks, heart disease, high blood pressure, and cancer.

It has been estimated that over 1.5 million women use NuvaRings. There have been at least two deaths attributed to the contraceptive, and many other injuries. Class action lawsuits have been forming to oversee lawsuits from patients who have been harmed by NuvaRings.
