Seven students and three drivers were hurt last week in a traffic accident involving a school bus. Fortunately, all injuries were minor. All 10 were taken to a hospital as a precaution. The students were from Post Elementary School. The crash involved the school bus and two other vehicles. The police are currently investigating the cause of the crash.

If you are ever involved in an accident involving a school bus, you may be able to pursue a legal case against the school. Every year, school bus passengers as well as other drivers are injured and killed in accidents involving buses owned or operated by school districts, counties, and other governmental entities.

If the accident occurs because of a bus driver's negligence, or the improper maintenance of a school bus, the school or governmental entity may be held legally liable. However, in some cases special rules apply. It can sometimes be hard to hold governmental entities liable for personal injury claims. You may be able to sue the school bus company, if the accident occurred because of safety defect with the bus.

It's important that you speak to an experienced personal injury attorney if you have been involved in a school bus accident case. There are strict requirements and deadlines that must be followed in order to preserve your rights. You should also not take a quick settlement from the school district without consulting with an attorney, especially in a serious case.
